What is Vegamour?
Vegamour is a cosmetics brand that focuses on hair wellness. It was founded in 2016 by CEO Daniel Hodgdon.
It’s mainly known as a brand of topical hair care products that help promote hair growth, but it also offers topical solutions for dandruff and hair loss as well as dietary supplements and hair tools.
So, what makes Vegamour different? Hair loss products are often riddled with harsh chemicals, but Vegamour offers a more gentle approach. The ingredients are plant-based, clinically tested, and clean.
Vegamour also focuses on effective formulas that combine the best of nature and science. The brand has a whole web page dedicated to the science behind its formulas. The products contain high-performance ingredients that are clinically tested and backed by clinical studies.
Is Vegamour Cruelty-Free?
Yes, Vegamour is a cruelty-free brand.
The brand has a cruelty-free certification from Leaping Bunny and has held it since 2016.
There are some loopholes that brand’s use to claim they’re cruelty-free when they’re not. Leaping Bunny is known to have strict criteria to ensure that brands are 100% cruelty-free.
For example, a product’s ingredients may be tested on animals, but the final product may be cruelty-free. To earn the Leaping Bunny cruelty-free logo, a brand’s ingredient suppliers and manufacturers must make a pledge to avoid new animal testing.
Therefore, the ingredients that are used to make Vegamour products and the final Vegamour products themselves are 100% cruelty-free.
Is Vegamour Vegan?
A product must meet two criteria to be considered vegan:
- It must be free of animal testing to be considered cruelty-free.
- It must contain plant-based ingredients only. It can’t contain animal-derived ingredients.
Vegamour is a vegan-friendly brand since it’s free of animal testing and animal-derived ingredients.
However, the brand claims to have a vegan certification from Vegan Action, but Vegamour can’t be found in the Vegan Action archive.
Vegamour Products
Vegamour has more than 50 products. Its best sellers include shampoo, conditioner, and various serums for the scalp and eyelashes.
The key ingredients in Vegamour products include:
- Mung bean sprouts
- Curcumin derived from turmeric
- Red clover
- Karmatin™ (an innovative, encapsulated vegan b-silk™ protein)
Vegamour is free of ingredients that are traditionally found in hair loss products – finasteride, minoxidil, and keratin. According to Vegamour, finasteride and minoxidil have too many side effects and keratin simply rinses out of hair.
GRO Revitalizing Shampoo
Each bottle of the Vegamour GRO Revitalizing Shampoo contains 8 ounces. It’s a color-safe shampoo that not only cleans hair but also promotes thicker, fuller, and longer hair. It also makes hair appear smooth and shiny.
Some shampoos can leave your hair feeling stripped and dry, but the Vegamour one doesn’t. It’s formulated with a variety of plant oils, ceramides, and peptides to moisturize delicate hair.
Customer reviews praise the shampoo for its signature bergamot smell and are shocked when the product actually works.
GRO Revitalizing Conditioner
If you try the shampoo, the Vegamour GRO Revitalizing Conditioner is a must. It’s also color-safe and suitable for daily use.
Each 8-ounce bottle is packed with plant-based yet highly effective ingredients like marula oil, murumuru butter, and ximenia oil to hydrate hair strands and the scalp. These ingredients also help fight free radical damage, which can damage hair follicles and lead to pattern baldness.
This conditioner is formulated with Karmatin™️, which will leave hair silky soft to the touch and provide a luxurious sheen.
GRO Hair Serum
The Vegamour GRO Hair Serum is one of the brand’s top-selling products, and it’s easy to see why. It’s a plant-based hair serum that multi-tasks to counteract hair thinning and fallout regardless of the cause, whether it’s due to stress, sleep or vitamin deficiency, hormones, etc.
According to clinical studies, Vegamour formulas increase the appearance of hair density by up to 52 percent and reduce hair shedding by up to 76% after 4 months of use.
“The GRO Hair Serum saved my hair,” says one customer review. “It is the most effective product I have ever used.”
30-Day Vegamour Review
After all my research, I had to give Vegamour a try for myself.
I have color-treated hair that is long and medium in density. I used to have very thick hair, but over time, I’ve noticed my ponytails aren’t as thick. While I don’t struggle with hair loss, I was drawn to Vegamour for the scalp health benefits. I also wanted shinier, healthier hair.
So, I gave it a try. I used the shampoo, conditioner, and serum mentioned above nearly every day for 30 days straight. Here are my thoughts.
Customer reviews rave about the smell of Vegamour products, I can attest. They have a pleasant bergamot smell. If you use fragrance-free products, these ones use naturally derived fragrance. The smell does linger, and I got many compliments from my husband.
My hair grows quickly, so it’s hard to know if Vegamour really made a difference in my case. Hair grows about half an inch per month (or 6 inches per year), and I think my hair definitely grew at least half an inch, if not more, during the last 30 days.
The products definitely made my hair shinier, softer, and healthier-looking, which is what I was hoping for. The shampoo and conditioner reminded me of using a hair mask or treatment because my hair felt so nourished.
I was especially impressed with the shampoo. I have an oily scalp, so my hair can start to feel greasy between washes. The shampoo gave me a good cleanse each day, and eventually, my roots weren’t as greasy.
As for the serum, I was the most nervous about this product, but it ended up being my favorite. Hair serums and oils can make my already oily scalp look even oilier, but this one didn’t. I view this hair serum like vitamins – if you use it daily, you will notice a difference.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Vegamour work?
According to thousands of customer reviews and clinical studies, Vegamour does work to encourage fuller-looking hair. The best way to find out if Vegamour works is try it for yourself, however. For severe cases of hair loss, you may want to consult with a dermatologist.
Does Vegamour test on animals?
No, Vegamour does not test on animals. Its ingredients and finished products are all free of animal testing, making it a cruelty-free brand.
Are Vegamour supplements vegan?
Dietary supplements may contain animal-derived ingredients like gelatin, honey, beeswax, lanolin, carmine, and more. Vegamour supplements are made with only plant-based ingredients, so they are vegan-friendly.
Is Vegamour the same thing as Rogaine?
Both Vegamour and Rogaine are brands that make hair loss products, so they have a similar goal, but they’re not the same. Rogaine uses minoxidil as its main active ingredient, which can have a lot of side effects. There is no minoxidil in Vegamour. Vegamour uses clean, non-toxic, and plant-based ingredients, so it’s much gentler.
Final Thoughts
We love to see fully vegan brands, and Vegamour is definitely a unique one. Hair loss and hair thinning affects many people, and the solutions aren’t always vegan-friendly. If you’re struggling with your hair health, give Vegamour a try. It’s pricey, but it doesn’t harm the animals. After trying Vegamour for 30 days, I would personally recommend this hair growth routine.
